Associated Builders and Contractors–Baltimore Metro - Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP) Success Story
Sandy Johns graduated from the first Jumpstart pre-apprenticeship class back in 2006. He became employed with Miles Electric and has been with them ever since. Upon becoming employed with Miles, the company decided to sponsor Sandy in the electrical Registered Apprenticeship program with the Associated Builders and Contractors, Baltimore Metro. Sandy graduated near the top of his class, moved up with his company and is now a project foreman for Miles.
Sandy impressed program organizers with his positive attitude and his ability to make everyone in the room smile just by his presence. Sandy took the next step in his career as an electrician and joined ABC itself as an electrical instructor. Sandy jumped at the opportunity and has been teaching with ABC Baltimore Metro for 4 years.
Sandy has started from the ground up and is now taking advantage of the opportunity to give back to the industry and to those who helped him along the way. Sandy is a natural leader and positive role model for our students. His experience with ABC Baltimore Metro helps him to relate to many students and his bright spirit is contagious.
