State offices and all DLLR physical locations will be closed to the public December 24 & December 25, 2014. However, Unemployment Insurance telephone and Web operations WILL be available on Wednesday, December 24.

Ellen Flowers-Fields Joins Maryland Labor Department as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Workforce Development and Adult Learning

 

BALTIMORE, MD (May 18, 2011) - Maryland Labor Secretary Alexander M. Sanchez and Assistant Secretary for Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL) Paulette L. Francois announce the appointment of Ellen Flowers-Fields as DWDAL's Deputy Assistant Secretary.

Ms. Flowers-Fields has been the Director of Regional Economic Development for Southern Maryland's Tri-County Council since August 2006. Her extensive experience utilizing business and management principles involved in strategic planning as well as resource allocation, problem-solving, human resources modeling, and coordination of people and resources make her a perfect candidate to complement Francois's leadership of the DWDAL staff.

Prior to joining the Tri-County Council, Ellen served as Executive Director of Southern Maryland Works, Inc. She began her career in workforce services as a Case Manager for Pratt Institute's Job Training Partnership Program. She has over 20 years of progressive professional experience in the field of workforce development and human capital management. Ellen is credentialed as a Global Career Development Facilitator from the Center for Credentialing and Education. A graduate of Pace University, Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
