WARNING - Poster, Log 300 and Safety Program SCAM! - Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH

Maryland Occupational Safety & Health (MOSH) has received several inquiries from employers around the state concerning intimidating solicitations for:

MOSH Poster about Safety and Health Rights (PDF document, 393KB, download Adobe Acrobat for free)

Forms to complete the Log 300

A required "canned" Safety and Health Program

These solicitations pressure the employer into purchasing safety materials, most of which are available for free, and mislead employers into feeling that if they do not purchase their products they will be in violation of the law.

"It is very important for employers to remember we do not require them to purchase anything from MOSH or OSHA".

  • A MOSH Poster (PDF document, 393KB, download Adobe Acrobat for free) is required to be posted in the place of employment, and that poster is available for FREE as a printable download or can be requested as a hard copy via mail, again free of charge.
Some of these solicitations simply provide a large laminated version or a one-poster solution that contains all other required posters from different agencies (covering topics such as pay and workers compensation). These are simply an option if an employer would like to have that service and pay for it.

  • Log 300 Forms used to track injuries and illnesses at each establishment are available here for FREE. Keep it filled out and simply post at your establishment from February 1 to April 30 of each year. Instructions are included on the forms.

  • A Safety and Health Program is not required to be purchased and can be developed in house.

Many of the solicitations threaten high fines and imply almost criminal activity if you do not purchase their products. Remember: the posters and Log 300 forms are available for free and safety and health programs can be developed via the following means:

  • In-house, OR

  • With the assistance of our FREE Consultation Services, OR

  • With a legitimate professional safety and health company or organization.

Visit the MOSH website for additional links on Free Training and Consultation for Employers and Employees.

If there are any questions about solicitations or other occupational safety and health related questions, please do not hesitate to contact the MOSH Hunt Valley office at (410-527-2091/2092) or email to mosh@dllr.state.md.us.

NOTE: This poster meets the requirements of Maryland Occupational Safety and Health only.

Other State agencies may have other required postings.
