Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Announce Current Version of GEDŽ Test to Expire at End of 2013

GEDŽ testing centers in Maryland encourage adults to finish and pass before test deadlines.

BALTIMORE, MD (January 4, 2013) - The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) Secretary Leonard J. Howie III and DLLR's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL) Ellen Flowers-Fields today announced that the current version of the GEDŽ test will expire at the end of 2013. The current version, known as the 2002 Series GEDŽ test, will be replaced with the new 2014 GEDŽ test on January 2, 2014.

Those who have taken the 2002 Series GEDŽ test, but not passed all five parts, have until the end of 2013 to pass or they will need to start over again in 2014 with the new GEDŽ test in order to receive their high school credential.

"The GEDŽ test opens doors to college, better jobs, the respect adults deserve, and the satisfaction of earning a high school credential," said DLLR Secretary Howie. "So we want to be sure that everyone is aware of this deadline. GEDŽ test-takers must act now to finish and pass before the current test expires."

Deputy Assistant Secretary Flowers-Fields explains, "Support is available to Marylanders. We can help adult learners get prepared to take the parts of the GEDŽ test they still need to pass. We want you to succeed!"

Interested GEDŽ test-takers can find more information at finishthegedtest.com.

A few important tips you should know about testing in Maryland before the end of 2013:

  • Registration deadline for repeat GEDŽ test-takers is October 31, 2013.
  • Registration deadline for new GEDŽ test-takers is September 16, 2013.

"To anyone who has already started the GEDŽ test, your future is calling. By passing the GEDŽ test, you can answer that call," sums up Randy Trask, president and CEO of GEDŽ Testing Service. "You owe it to yourself. Don't miss the chance to turn one small step into your next big opportunity in life."
