Attention: Maryland Residents Prepare for Hurricane Joaquin

October 2, 2015

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain throughout the end of this week for the entire State. The potential of 5 to 10 inches of rain is possible with some areas receiving higher amounts which could produce flooding of rivers, streams, ponds and low-lying areas. Please listen to instructions from local officials and be aware of current forecasts through your new stations.

On Thursday October 1, 2015, Governor Larry Hogan signed an Executive Order for a state of emergency for Maryland and has instructed agencies to begin preparing in case the Hurricane makes landfall near Maryland. Maryland residents that may experience property damage, loss or financial hardship resulting from Hurricane Joaquin are encouraged to contact their financial intuitions, banks, credit unions or mortgage companies immediately to discuss individual options.

There are many storm related preparedness measures residents can take so we have provided a link to the Maryland Emergency Management Agency's website: Maryland Emergency Management Agency.

From a financial perspective, have all of your financial and insurance contacts updated and with you in the event of a casualty claim. We have advised banks and credit unions to make sure that ATMs are well stocked with cash. ATM access is likely to be more critical than ever in an emergency.
